Hello, Old Friend.

Like the turning of the seasons, every year we must make our way to St. Stephen’s Protomartyr on Wilmington Avenue, just off of Super South Grand.

As far as I can recall, and I have not checked, we have arrived inside their halls every single Lenten season that we have been doing this as a family. My Mother-in-law always brings her coupons. I always rave about this place. It’s just pretty much a staple now, so yes, next year we’ll be going back I’m sure.

This year we had an interesting tag along that should be apparent sooner or later, but I’m not going to divulge it just yet, because it makes me feel important to know something.

In the past we have made triumphant returns to places only to be disappointed, but after all the times of going to St. Stephens for their fried fish, I still feel like they are the class fish fry of St. Louis. (NOTE: St. Federinand’s doesn’t as they bring in folks to do it for them. St. Stephen’s is a volunteer fry.) (more…)

New signs!

You know, I’m pretty late with this post and I apologize, but I can explain! Last Thursday, I was sick and apparently had pneumonia! However, I still stuck it out and went to a Fish Fry for you….and for the tasty fish. On top of that, I had some work I had to finish for school, and such. You may have seen me mentioning it on the twitters…no on to it!

You may have noticed that this blog revolves around my life and my family. So, in the past, Bob and I would go for breakfast for slinger runs. Bob and I do beer tastings. My wife and I used to go to dive bars and we still go for steak sandwiches. My wife, my in laws, and now my daughter, go out for breakfast.

This past Friday, we went out for our next Fish Fryday adventure.  This is the only church this year of which we had any prior knowledge.  This was one of the first places we went to last year, before this was even a dream in anyone’s heads.

St. Stephens had a bit of an allure for me because as I learned on the forums, they served Schlafly with their fish.  So, again, I looked up where we were going instead of assuming I had a clue, but again, we had been there before, which really helps finding when you’re going.  So, I advise all my fellow fish fryday folks to google maps where you are going before you get into your car.  So, as we were walking in, my companion says, hey do you see him?

For those of you following me on twitter, you know I’m a little bit behind on this post. We went on Friday and I’m just now getting this one. What can I say? It’s been a bit of a busy weekend. So, apology over, and let’s get down to it!

I first discovered this South St. Louis gem about 5 months ago. The wife and I were finishing up taking photos of the St. Louis neighborhood signs and we just saw this bar and I decided right then and there that the 13 Blog was going to make a visit. I handed her the BlackBerry and said
